He is tall, and gazes out over all the others. It just makes sense that Chief is the leader. Chief was one of the first horses to live at Blue Rose Ranch and all the other horses know he is in charge. He is always ready to jump on the horse trailer, just in case it is going some place interesting. He never tires of the fun of being a horse. Chief has developed quite a reputation and may well be the most famous (or infamous!) horse in southeast Colorado.

    Birthday: April 30, 1995  
    Height: 16 hands  
    Weight: 1400 lbs  
    Color: Sorrel and White Paint  
    Job: Chief leads the trail rides, making sure the route   is safe.  
    Favorite Food: Horse Cookies. But he will eat anything!  
    Special Feature: Chief has a great personality and a   commanding presence. He is   always first in line for both photos and treats. If Chief were a person, he would be Captain of the Football Team.  



Chief is a pure bred, registered Missouri Fox Trotter. How did magnificent Chief end up at a horse rescue? Chief has one front hoof that angles differently from the rest, so no one took the time to really train him. Because he was big and difficult to handle, he was not wanted. Chief was saved at the auction house by someone who knew this horse deserved a second chance. Chief has thrived with attention and training. He has become a great horse!
